The Leonard Florence Center for Living “A List of Firsts”
The nation’s first urban Green House®
The Leonard Florence Center for Living (LFCL) is America's first urban Green House®, providing skilled nursing care for 100 residents in an environment that bears little resemblance to a nursing home as we know it today. Residents will live in a ten-bedroom home with contemporaries, each with their own room and bath. The in-home kitchen will serve upon request. A dedicated staff will deliver loving care in an expression of the mission of Leonard Florence - Living Life to the Fullest.
Construction will begin in 2008 on Admiral’s Hill in Chelsea, Massachusetts, over looking Boston Harbor. LFCL will be the third innovative housing option for seniors on the Dr. Miriam and Sheldon G. Adelson Campus. The Center joins Cohen-Florence-Levine Estates Assisted Living and Florence and Chafetz Home for Specialized Care – all under the auspices of Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home.
The nation’s first ALS Residence The nation’s first urban Green House® MS Residence
Two of the ten residences at the Leonard Florence Center for Living are dedicated to individuals with ALS and MS. The ALS & MS residences will offer renewed quality life to residents at all stages of disability. Residents will have access to advanced assistive technologies, ventilator support, lifts, and personalized mobile command centers to navigate independently throughout the campus.
Meet those looking forward to living at the Leonard Florence Center for Living.
UMass Lowell’s first smart technology infrastructure project
The University of Massachusetts Lowell’s Assistive Technology Program, will provide the technology needed to allow residents to remain independent as long as possible. With just the use of their eye muscles, they will be able to navigate themselves through the home, down the elevator to the main floor service facilities or out the door to the campus grounds and Peace garden in their mobilized command center.
